Talking RealMoney Takedown

Last week, I posted a video podcast to our YouTube channel. In the past, we have featured a few classes and the audio of a few podcasts on this feed. It was nothing substantial, but we hoped to develop something more compelling in the coming months.

However, on Friday, our video and our entire channel were “terminated” by TouTube for apparently violating the comminity standards. The video I posted can be seen here: https://www.talkingrealmoney.com/new-blog/2021/4/30/si-trm-episode-one-cryptocurrencies

Of course, I appealed this decision saying:

We create financial videos and podcasts and have done so for years. Yesterday, we created a new video episode to add to our Talking Real Money YouTuibe channel. Too thereafter, I resceived a notice that my account was terminated for violating community standards. However, there was nothing negative, political, defamatory, or obscene in the video. The only problem I can imagine is that a bot mistook my co-host's ACTUAL LAST NAME, "Cock" for a sexual term. if you would like to see the video,s it is currently being served by Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/543839149. Please review it and reinstate our channel as its removal could damage our business. If we somehow, inadvertently, said something offensive, please give me a chance to fix it. In the future, it would be very helpful to receive a more specific reason for removal. Please look into this ASAP.

This morning (Sunday, May 2) I awoke to this response:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We have carefully reviewed your account appeal.

Your account has been terminated due to repeated or severe violations of our Community Guidelines on Harmful or Dangerous content. While it might not seem fair to say you can’t show something because of what viewers theoretically might do in response, we draw the line at content that’s intended to incite violence or encourage dangerous, illegal activities that have an inherent risk of serious physical harm or death. It's not permitted to post content promoting activities such as drug abuse, under-age drinking and smoking, or bomb making. For more information, please visit our Help Center.

We also restrict content that intends to sell certain regulated or illegal goods and services through direct sales or links to sites that sell these items. These items include, but may not be limited to, drugs, pharmaceuticals that require a prescription, alcohol, nicotine products, online gambling casinos, counterfeit documents, or stolen credit card information.

We have decided to keep your account suspended. You won’t be able to access or create any other YouTube accounts. For more information about account terminations, please visit our Help Center.

Sincerely,
The YouTube Team

Ot seems have reached the end of my ability to appeal, so I am turning to you for help. Please reach out to Google’s (YouTube’s parent company) CEO, Sundar Pichai and ask him respectfully to intervene in this travesty. His e-mail address is sundar@google.com.

As a listener, you know that we keep our show apolitical and have never even jockingly mentioned violent acts.

Thanks for listening and helping.
